Writing Console Applications
- Video Category
(
all video categories
)
For most people, the logical place to begin learning a complex language like C# is with console applications. Console applications are really nothing more than applications (exe's) that you run at the command prompt (or DOS prompt). What's so great about console apps? Why should you start here?
Sooner or later you'll likely need to write a console application - even if you're doing web development
Learning to write console applications allow you to separate yourself from learning the complex environment and let you focus specifically on the code
Console applications can be written by hand; i.e., with Notepad.exe or any text editor and a compiler.
Actually this is true of all .NET applications but no one would think to write an Windows Forms application by hand!
